July was a month of...

...CRAZINESS!!! I feel like my life has been in fast forward for the last several weeks. I just got back from a fun, but very busy trip to NYC, and I'm leaving tomorrow for a weekend in San Antonio. With the travel, overtime at work, being in a wedding, and other general busyness, my reading and blogging was sadly neglected. However, I somehow found time to buy lots of books! I thought I would share a picture of the pile I aquired through a library sale (my first one--thanks Trish!), a giant used bookstore, winning a giveaway from Jeane, and using a birthday giftcard.

The bookshelf in the back contains books I've already read, and the lava lamp and radio are sitting on a short bookshelf that contains non-read books. What you can't see is how full it is. I really want/need to get another tall one! I have set a goal for myself not to buy any more books for the rest of the year. My short term goal for August is to get back on track with reading and blogging. I need to catch up on my reviews and with my Google reader. Since August in Texas is generally WWAAAAAYYYY too hot to be outside (unless you are in a pool), what better to do than sit in wonderful A/C enjoying ice cream and books?

Those look like some pretty good books!!! Sorry July was so crazy for you, hopefully things will start to slow down in August! Not buying any more books this year, huh?? I wish you nothing but the best with that resolution! I've tried that before and it wasn't a couple months later when I found another book that I just had to have! :) I can't wait for the book sale next year!!! I'll bring tennis shoes next time, and a much bigger bag!

Lots of books I want to read in that pile! Particularly March, Cave River, Alias Grace and Confessions of an Ugly Stepsisters. I look forward to your reviews!

And good luck with your goal. Like Kari, I have tried to do the same and failed miserably :P

You've got two books in that pile I really, really liked- Life of Pi and Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister. And it tickled me pink to see the spine of a book I passed on to you! hope you enjoy them all. Aren't library sales wonderful?

Mmmmm, ice cream! I remember really liking Drowning Ruth, but it's been a long long time since I've read it. Glad you were able to find some books at the sale--and you need to tell your hubby to get rid of his boring Money books or find his own bookshelf so you can have more space. ;) Scott has all of his books in the corner of his office--I don't want to share with him--well, he does get a tiny tiny corner of one of my shelves. Ha!

You got some great ones! I loved Life of Pi and Empire Falls. Memoirs of a Geisha is on my TBR list as well.
Living in the same area as Half-Price Books has shamelessly contributed to our ever-growing piles. :)

~Kari-I'm going to try really really hard to cut back for a little while, but if I find a book I REALLY want for like $1, I might have to give in! And yes--a bigger bag is a must next year (or maybe a dolly) :)

~Nymeth-I just want to sit in my favorite chair and read for the next month solid! If I wasn't in so many challenges, I don't think I would even know where to begin with all the fun books I have to read!

~Jeane-I am officially a huge fan of library sales, and I can't wait to read the book from you!

~Trish-I want some ice cream RIGHT now! Blue Bell Dutch Chocolate please! Maybe I will tell my hubby to get his own shelf--(actually, it used to be his before I took over...oops!) :)

~Tiffany-ahhh...Half Price Books...I don't know what I would do without it! I never pay full price for books, unless I absolutely can NOT find it anywhere.
